Animal Farm- Book Review
George Orwell was an English novelist, essayist and a journalist. Animal Farm and 1984 are two of his most famous novels. Both these novels are based on theme of totalitarian government, misuse of language and the limitations imposed on freedom.
The story of Animal Farm is set up in a fictious Manor Farm. It is like any other English farm owned by the drunken owner, Mr. Jones who runs the place along with some incompetent workers. All the animals of the farm are oppressed and unhappy. Realizing the unjust treatment they were receiving, all the animals soon decided to take the matters in their own hands and caused the rebel. The rebel was led by the two cunning pigs named Napoleon and Snowball. It was about time when the animals found themselves to be further unhappy and weak as compared to before. They were manipulated and gaslighted to the limit that they began to doubt their own understanding and memory.
Although it's a short novel, it is not a quick read, as the plot demands an understanding of both its surface narrative and deeper layers. On the surface level, the story of Animal Farm appears to be a simple story of barnyard animals. However, on the deeper level the story involves savage political satire on corrupted ideas and mislead revolutions.
The twist and turns of the story plot are very intriguing. It is a well-written descriptive novel. Animal Farm is one of the smart reads. It bounds the readers to think and analyze the affairs at a deeper level.
