Kho Gay Hum Kahan: Review

Starring Ananya Pandey, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gourav, Kho Gai Hum Kahan is a story of three best friends who navigates the modern-urban life of Mumbai. The story revolves around the theme of social media addiction and it's impact.

The three friends deals with friendship, childhood traumas, heart-breaks, family crisis while they also search for an identity of their own. The direction of the movie is interesting and keeps the audience engaged through-out. Zoya Akhtar as always have nailed the aesthetics of the movie and has set the vibe right according to the story.

Siddhant Chaturvedi aka Imaad Ali plays the role of a stand up comedian as he deals with severe commitment issues. He is flat mates with Ahana Singh, played by Ananya Pandey who is on an emotional rollercoaster ride after her breakup. To heal her heart break she resorts to reverse psychology by posting her happy moments on Instagram, though thoroughly stalking her ex on social media.

Neil Pereira played by Adarsh Gourav, is a gym trainer who one day plans to open his own fitness center. However, he finds himself being the victim of colleague jealously when he gets the opportunity to personally train Malaika Arora, the famous actress, a short role played by the actress herself. Kalki Cochin also has a short and sweet side role as Simran. She helps Imaad change his perspective about life.

To deal with their chaotic lives they resort to dating apps, act of trolling and pretends live on social media emotions that weren't real. Only to realize that what they were seeking in the virtual world is present in the friendship they had. A sense of understanding, unsaid empathy and comfort was the heart of their friendship. They make genuine efforts to help each other come out of the struggles and be in a better place emotionally and mentally.

The movie has a runtime of 2 hours and 15 mins and is not stretched to the limit where audience might lose the focus. The nuance detailing of the characters adds depth to the writing. There is no message of why one should not use social media but that the importance of real is more than the virtual. The is no boring scene in the movies and keeps the audience fully engaged. It is a light hearted watch with subtle life messages making it a relevant watch.
